Recently The Virginia National Guard Adjutant General (Senior National Guard General), Major General Timothy P. Williams, presented The Virginia Army National Guard Commendation Medal to Virginia Defense Force member, Corporal Douglas C. Rumburg. The Corporal achieved this prestigious medal for his above and beyond devotion to duty. Volunteering much of his time to ensure the communication equipment of The Joint Incident Site of The National Guard J6 Communication Section is properly maintained and operational at all times.
We congratulate Corporal Rumburg for achieving this rare award as well as being presented it by The Adjutant General, a rare honor.
Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, presents the Virginia Army National Guard Commendation Medal to Cpl. (Va.) Douglas C. Rumburg of the Virginia Defense Force March 1, 2023, at the Virginia National Guard Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Rumburg is assigned to the Warrenton-based Echo Company, 11th Signal Battalion, 1st Regiment and is one of the team members who routinely trains on the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability with the Virginia National Guard’s J6 Joint Communication Section. He regularly volunteers his time to assist with the upkeep of the communications equipment used by the VNG and VDF during domestic response operations. His extensive knowledge, dedication to duty and professionalism have been key to the high state of readiness of the communications equipment and the outstanding level of training of VDF personnel.
