In 1777, The British Army led by General John Burgoyne invaded New York from Canada. The British plan was to crush The Northern Continental Army led by General Horatio Gates and take control of The Hudson, which would split American in two. The two armies met near Saratoga Springs where The American Army surrounded and defeated The British. This canvas print features the Historical 1821 Painting of the surrender of General John Burgoyne British Army to The American General Horatio Gates. Following this surrender France agreed to join The American War for Independence.
