Discover Why Soldiers Choose the Indiana Guard Reserve in Their Latest Inspirational Video

The Indiana Guard Reserve recently posted a new video showcasing why some of their soldiers joined the organization. In the video, soldiers like Sergeant Bisset express how the Indiana Guard Reserve is a perfect fit for them, as it accommodates their frequent work travel by requiring only a few days of training each month. Another soldier, PFC Gregory, shares that the Indiana Guard Reserve brings back memories of his prior service in the US Navy. The Indiana Guard Reserve and other State Defense Forces provide an incredible opportunity to serve your state and country, especially for those who cannot commit to full-time military service due to work or family obligations, or those who are medically disqualified from serving in the US military.

Note from editor.
We are pleased to see the Indiana Guard Reserve release this professionally developed video, as it will significantly enhance public awareness, aiding in both troop recruitment and the expansion of their mission scope. Notably, their previous update was on December 12, 2021; we hope they will maintain a more consistent posting schedule moving forward. We encourage the Indiana Guard Reserve and other State Defense Forces, such as the California State Guard, New York Guard, Puerto Rico State Guard, etc., to follow the example of the Georgia State Defense Force and Texas State Guard. These organizations maintain multiple social media pages and post weekly, effectively boosting public awareness, troop strength, and missions.

The Indiana Guard Reserve is an all-volunteer military force which reports directly to the State Adjutant General and is under the command of the Governor of Indiana through the 81st Troop Command. Members have regular civilian careers and meet for drills one day per month unless activated by the Governor during an emergency. When not volunteering, IGR soldiers are students and teachers, attorneys, police officers and everything in between. Many IGR members are retired members of the National Guard and other military services. However, military experience is not a prerequisite. Service in the IGR is a way for members to “give back” to their neighbors while experiencing military commitment and camaraderie on missions just for Hoosiers.
