Elite Units

 

CALIFORNIA STATE GUARD

  • Cyber Command
    • A unit in the California State Guard (State Defense Force) that is composed of troops who assist and augment the California Cyber Security Center.
    • Why Elite?
      • They are made up of IT professionals who monitor and respond to cyber attacks.
      • They work alongside personnel from the California Cyber Security Center
  • Emergency Response Command (ERC)
    • A specialized unit in the California State Guard (State Defense Force) that is composed of troops who are trained and experienced in Wildland Firefighting.
    • Why Elite?
      • They work hand in hand with the California National Guard fighting wildfires throughout the year.
      • This MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) is particularly dangerous work and extremely labor intensive.
  • Force Protection Detail
    • A full time active duty unit within the California State Guard (State Defense Force) that provides a security unit to the California Army National Guard for base access to the Joint Training Base Los Alamitos.
    • Why Elite?
      • They are the only State Defense Force that has a active duty Military Police force that work hand in hand with the California National Guard
  • Maritime Component
    • A unit of the California State Guard (State Defense Force) staffed with Sailors who’s mission is perform search, rescue, security, and recovery duties across California’s maritime environment.
    • Why Elite?
      • They train and work with the United States Coast Guard as well as County Fire Rescue Teams
  • Small Arms Training Team
    • A specialized unit that provides specialized training to California Army National Guard units. The team provides advanced small arms techniques the troops could use while deployed overseas.
    • Why Elite?
      • They are the only unit that train Army National Guard troops in advanced small arms techniques
      • The team is composed of Prior Service Active Duty US Military Instructors & Police Instructors

GEORGIA

  • Opposing Force (OPFOR)
    • A unit within the Georgia State Defense Force whos mission is to provide a counter force for Georgia Army National Guard troops as they train for their Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) exercises.
    • Why Elite?
      • Previously the Georgia Army National Guard had to use their own troops to act as the counter (enemy) force for their Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) exercises, now their entire unit can go through the exercise as GSDF troops now act as the enemy force and provide that counter force.

MARYLAND DEFENSE FORCE

  • 10th Medical Regiment
    • Medical unit within The Maryland Defense Force composed of Doctors, Nurses, Medics, Dentists & medical specialists
    • Why Elite?
      • They were the first and only State Defense Force unit to deploy to an international country, Bosnia-Herzegovina, with the Maryland Air National Guard for a Medical & Humanitarian mission.
      • They deployed to Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina and assisted local health care agencies to treat the wounded.
      • They deployed to an Native American Reservation to provide medical services.
  • 256th Cyber-Defense Unit
    • Specialized unit in The Maryland Defense Force composed of Computer Engineers who augment the Maryland National Guard Cyber Defense Team
    • Why Elite?
      • They are one of the few State Defense Forces in the country to augment their National Guard Cyber Defense Teams

NEW YORK GUARD

  • NYG CERFP Team
    • A unit within the New York Guard whos mission was to augment the National Guard CERFP (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High Explosive Enhanced Response Force / Package). The National Guard CERFP units mission was to do mass decontamination of a large population following a terrorist attack. The unit was formed in 2003 and was deactivated in the mid 2010’s.
    • Why Elite?
      • This was the first and only State Defense Force to work hand in hand with the New York Army & Air National Guard on this extremely important mission.

SOUTH CAROLINA

  • Corrections Unit
    • A unit in the South Carolina State Guard (State Defense Force) that assists and augments the South Carolina Corrections Department.
    • Why Elite?
      • This MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) requires specialized training.
      • This is the only State Defense Force that augments a Corrections Department.

TEXAS STATE GUARD

  • Maritime Regiment
    • A unit in the Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) that provides a team of sailors & divers who provide water-based operations including Search & Rescue (SAR).
    • Why Elite?
      • This MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) is extremely labor intensive as well as requires a long training & certification process.
      • They augment United States Coast Guard vessels
      • They work and coordinate with the United States Department of Homeland Security

WASHINGTON STATE GUARD

  • Wildfire Unit
    • A specialized unit in the Washington State Guard (State Defense Force) that is composed of troops who are trained and experienced in Wildland Firefighting.
    • Why Elite?
      • They work hand in hand with the Washington National Guard fighting wildfires throughout the year throughout the state
      • This MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) is particularly dangerous work and extremely labor intensive.
  • Cyber Security Team
    • A unit that assists and augments the National Guard 252nd Cyberspace Operations Group
    • Why Elite?
      • They work hand in hand with the Washington National Guard ensuring the States’ cyber security infrastructure is secure and operationing properly
