- Maryland State Defense Force – Mission: Deploy with Maryland Air National Guard to South Dakota to provide medical care to the Sioux tribe.

- Maryland State Defense Force – Mission: Deploy with Maryland Air National Guard to Bosnia and Herzegovina to provide Humanitarian aid.
2005 – Hurricane Katrina

2,274 State Defense Force troops from eight State Defense Forces deployed to assist in recovery operations during Hurricane Katrina:
- Alabama State Defense Force – Mission: Assist The National Guard with Logistics & Supply
- Georgia State Defense Force – Mission: Augment & Assist The National Guard with Medical Teams
- Maryland State Defense Force – Mission: Deploy to Louisiana with Maryland Air National Guard to assist in medical support for hurricane victims.
- Mississippi State Guard – Mission: Recovery operations.
- Texas State Guard – Mission: Augment & Assist The National Guard in Medical, Transportation, Shelter Management, & Supply missions
- Louisiana State Guard – Mission: Assist The National Guard
- California State Military Reserve – Mission: Deploy to Louisiana with California National Guard to assist with disaster recovery missions.
- Virginia State Defense Force – Mission: Communication support and mobilization assistance to National Guard units.
2004 – Republican National Convention

2001 – September 11 Terrorist Attacks
- 2,274 Soldiers from 8 State Defense Forces were involved with responding to The September 11 Terrorist Attacks.
Missions involved: Medical Assistance, Assistance with Recovery Efforts, Back-filling Deployed State National Guard units, Force Protection Teams securing critical sites & National Guard Armories, & Logistical Support
1946-2001
- State Defense Forces Assisted & Augmented National Guard forces during Natural Disasters
World War 2
- 168,000 Soldiers from nearly every State were involved with securing critical sites, armories and performing State & Federal Military Missions. They also responded to natural disasters & riot control that occurred during the war.
World War 1
- 150,000 Soldiers from numerous States were involved with Internal Security missions, securing critical sites, armories, and assuming National Guard responsibilities through the states
