Texas State Guard’s 1st Brigade Enhances Readiness with Heavy Equipment Training

Building on their engineering expertise, soldiers from 2BN, C Co., 1st Brigade, Texas State Guard (TXSG – State Defense Force), underwent intensive training and certification on various construction equipment, such as loaders and forklifts, to enhance their mission readiness. This training focused on ensuring soldiers are capable of delivering essential infrastructure support when needed. ASCO Equipment in Lubbock provided the training facility and heavy machinery, while Dark Horse Safety, Inc. led the training and certification, ensuring the soldiers received comprehensive, hands-on instruction. The effort marks a significant investment in the brigade’s operational capabilities, especially during times of emergency.

This type of training is critical as the Texas State Guard, like many other State Defense Forces, is often called upon to perform supply and logistics missions during natural disasters and statewide emergencies. State Defense Forces, including the New York Guard and Georgia State Defense Force, train on similar equipment, such as forklifts and loaders, to prepare for these missions. The use of construction heavy equipment plays a vital role in logistical operations. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Guard was tasked with managing logistics and supplies, distributing critical medical equipment such as test kits and vaccines across the state. This training ensures that, when activated, State Defense Forces can efficiently manage the movement and distribution of essential resources, reinforcing their vital role in emergency response.

Building on their engineering expertise, soldiers from 2BN, C Co., 1BDE, Texas State Guard, trained and certified on heavy equipment to enhance their mission readiness and deliver essential infrastructure support when needed on June 22, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. Special thanks to ASCO Equipment in Lubbock for providing the training facility and heavy machinery, and Dark Horse Safety, Inc. in Andrews, Texas, for leading the training and certification.
