Alaska Militia Workers Compensation bill passes Senate

Last week the Alaska State Senate passed HR 126, Workers’ Compensation Bill for members of the organized militia, which compromise the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Alaska State Defense Force.  The bill is now heading to the rules committee.

WHAT DOES THE BILL DO?

For any member of the State Militia who suffers a injury or disability while on Active Duty, or in transit to duty, will be covered under AS 23.30 (Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act). The bill also includes compensation if that member dies as a result of a injury or disability while on Active Duty.
