The Tennessee State Guard (State Defense Force) has been activated to join the fight against the coronavirus outbreak sweeping through the state. The State Guard has been tasked to support the National Guard and Tennessee Emergency Management Agency in medical efforts. They are working side by side with Army & Air National Guard troops in this Joint Task Force to combat this outbreak.

TNSG Soldiers, alongside Tennessee Army and Air National Guard Soldiers and Airmen, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and local and state healthcare providers prepare to deploy in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic throughout Tennessee. While the pandemic has hit coastal areas in Washington State, New York, and Louisiana, Tennessee is preparing to insure that it is ready to fight any threats that might appear in both big cities and rural areas.
Tennessee State Guard, Tennessee Army National Guard, and Tennessee Air National Guard Soldiers and Airmen setting the standard for wearing personal protective equipment in preparation for deployment to 33 testing centers across Tennesse, a “surge” of testing that will help determine the speed and location of the coronavirus in the State. Testing will be available beginning April 18 and 19, and for the following two weekends.
