The California State Guard (State Defense Force) have been actively fighting the wildfires that have been causing widespread destruction throughout the state. The State Guard is part of a Joint Task Force which includes The Army National Guard as well as CAL FIRE.

SSG (CA) Devin Slaven, S-3 Operations NCO of the 40th SPT DET (JFTB Los Alamitos), has been activated to support the wildfires in Northern California. SSG (CA) Slaven and CPT (CA) Solomon Foster (G6 JFHQ) have been embedded with the California National Guard in support of CAL FIRE operations in CZU Complex Fire in Santa Cruz.
