Earlier this year the Washington State Guard (State Defense Force) announced they are forming teams to assist the National Guard in wildland firefighting. The State Guard has assisted the National Guard in previous years in firefighting missions to combat wildfires that plagued the state.
Today’s drill focused on Wildland firefighting training (Redcard). The WSG is forming teams to assist the National Guard with wildland firefighter teams to help during the upcoming fire season. Whether it is firefighter training, emergency communications or providing support during times of disaster we stand ready to serve our State and communities. These photos show WSG soldiers learning how to deploy emergency fire shelters.
