The Texas Military Department, which is composed of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard & Texas State Guard, is continuing one of their longest serving missions with Operation Long Star. Operation Lone Star is in its 22nd year and combines state and county health and human service agencies, the Texas Military Department, local service groups, and volunteers in the largest public health humanitarian effort in the country.
Texas State Guard service members in Rio Grande City are providing a variety of services to assist with Operation Lone Star (Medical) to include medical service providers, general manpower for logistics support, flow control, and patient intake. This is the 22nd year of Operation Lone Star, a collaborative medical services project that unites state and county health and human service agencies, the Texas Military Department, local service groups, and volunteers in the largest public health humanitarian effort in the country. Rio Grande City is one of five locations where services are being offered.
