The Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) held a statewide waterborne training exercise with multiple units to develop and strengthen their Search & Rescue skills. The State Guard is utilized heavily for Search & Rescue missions during natural disasters.
Members of the Texas State Guard Boat team from 2nd Brigade, as well as others across the state, sharpen skills as coxswains and crewmembers during a waterborne training exercise at the Steinhagen Reservoir and Angelina River near Woodville, Texas, September 11, 2021. The Texas State Guard Training Cadre drills boat teams on basic waterborne skills as well as search and rescue techniques for daytime and nighttime operations to prepare them for deployment during floods, hurricanes, or other natural disasters.
