TXSG 1st Brigade trains with Directional Antennas for use during Natural Disasters

The 1st Brigade of the Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) recently spent their drill weekend training with directional antennas to triangulate locations if the need arises during a Natural Disaster.

Improving radio communications capabilities, service members completed the Radio Telephone Operator (RTO) course in Very High Frequency/High Frequency (VHF/HF) operations. They set up single and dual-band routers, a 40 ft radio antenna.
The troops then conducted a field exercise using directional antennas to triangulate a location with their land navigation skills.
Preparing for natural disasters and coordinating emergency response efforts is essential to assist communities.
