Ohio Command Sergeant Major retires after lifetime of Federal & State Military Service

Command Sergeant Major Notestine of the Ohio Military Reserve recently retired after serving in the United States Army & Ohio Military Reserve.  This incredible soldier was a US Army Infantry Instructor, a US Army Ranger, and spend the last 17 years of his life serving in the Ohio Military Reserve.  Thank you for your service CSM Notestine.

Notestine’s retirement after 18 years of service to the State of Ohio.
As a US Army Infantry Instructor with his Ranger Tab, CSM (OH)
Notestine, brought a unique skill-set to the Ohio Military Reserve.
After serving three years in the US Army, Notestine again sought
uniformed service and joined the Ohio Military Reserve in 2003 working
his way from squad leader to Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander.
From the very beginning he has worked to maintain the health, welfare
and training of all soldiers under his command.
CSM(OH)Notestine became a consummate citizen-soldier by serving his
community as a FEMA Disaster Assessor, American Red Cross volunteer,
National Association Search and Rescue Certified volunteer, American
Legion member, high school teacher and football coach just to name some
of his community service.
His OHMR awards and decorations reflect his stellar community service.
CSM(OH)Notestine was honor graduate of both his BELT and PLDC classes,
he was recipient of OHMR’s True Grit Award and has twice been awarded
the Commanding General’s Meritorious Unit Citation. “What I will miss
the most is the people,” CSM Notestine said “as I enjoy watching
soldiers grow and succeed.”
