The Adjutant General (TAG) of South Carolina, Major General Van McCarty, recently attended a South Carolina State Guard promotion & aware ceremony. The TAG is the senior Military Commander of the State and reports directly to the Governor. During the Ceremony the TAG issued promotions to SC State Guard troops, and congratulations to two Officers who are officially retiring from military service.
Retiring Staff Judge Advocate, COL Sam Philips and JAG Executive Officer LTC Michael Henthorne were recognized for their years of service with the presentations of Meritorious Service Medals. South Carolina’s Adjutant General, MG Van McCarty, recognized their extraordinary achievements building the JAG Detachment and wished them much deserved retirements. State Guard Commander, BG Leon Lott, also praised the men for their outstanding service to the State of South Carolina.
CSM Robert Smith received congratulations from The Adjutant General, MG Van McCarty, on his promotion today at the Olympia Armory in Columbia. State Guard Commander, BG Leon Lott, also praised CSM Smith for his dedicated service.
Promotion ceremonies conducted by order of Governor Henry McMaster were also held today in Columbia for COL Brent Theiling, Commander of the Engineering Detachment; MAJ Sybil Rosado and W01 Noel Adams: both with G2 Cyber Security.
