In mid December of 2021, Governor Mike DeWine, tasked the Ohio State Defense Force to support and assist Staff & Correction Officers at the Cuyahoga County Jail, due to Covid-19 infections leading to a shortage of personnel. The Adjutant General of the State, Major General John C. Harris was present during the ceremony as well as Cuyahoga County Executive Budish, the county sheriff, and jail staff. They all thanked and voiced their appreciation for the successful mission of the Ohio State Defense Force.
Operation Sentinel concludes, another successful OHSDF (OHMR & ONM) mission. Governor Mike DeWine called OHSDF Soldiers & Sailors to active duty to help staff the Cuyahoga County Jail. Under the leadership of OIC CPT Stewart, troops excelled in their mission. The deployment lasted DEC21-FEB22. Cuyahoga County Executive Budish, the county sheriff and jailer all praised OHSDF troops, as did MG Harris, BG Vasquez, COL McNeil. Saluting those troops who performed well in the line of duty to the people of Ohio. Additional photos from the ceremony will be published throughout the week.
COL Deano McNeil thanks the troops who successfully completed Operational Sentinel. OHSDF has completed several missions during the past three years that proved its flexibility as a force multiplier. All of Ohio is proud of these outstanding Soldiers.
BG Richard Vasquez provided inspirational comments during the demobilization ceremony at the Cuyahoga County Jail. CPT Laird Stewart and Cuyahoga County Jail Administrator Ronda Gibson with a plaque commemorating the deployment. Each Soldier received a framed photo with all of Operation Sentinel. Great job, troops, all of Ohio is proud of your great work here.
