Troops from The South Carolina State Guard recently spent their last drill weekend training and certifying on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses. The troops certified on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) also known as ICS-300.
State Guards / State Defense Force throughout the country require their troops to be certified in a multitude of FEMA courses to ensure they can coordinate and work with multiple agencies on the local, State and Federal level.
This week 1LT Andrew Brown with SARCOM conducted an ICS-300 training course with SCSG personnel in conjunction with the SCSGMA. ICS-300 provides an in-depth focus on the NIMS Incident Command System (ICS). SCSG personal routinely conduct FEMA designed training courses in preparation for their vital role with disaster assistance as part of the SC Military Department.
