TXSG Engineers Train for Upcoming Hurricane Season with Simulated Exercise

Engineers from the Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) 1st Brigade, 2nd Battalion, Charlie Company recently spent their drill weekend training for the upcoming Hurricane season. The Engineers conducted a mock Hurricane & Tornado scenario at a State Park. The exercise included the troops assessing damage to the water & wastewater treatment plants.

The Texas State Guard Engineer units are an incredibly valuable asset to the State and the National Guard. Besides maintaining State facilities with regular maintenance they also assist the National Guard by providing Installation Status Report (ISR) for each National Guard armory throughout the State. The ISR is an important component required by the United States Army that help assess any future maintenance or work needed at the facility.

Preparing for the upcoming hurricane season, engineers from 2nd Battalion, Charlie Company conducted a mock hurricane and tornado scenario at Dinosaur Valley State Park. Soldiers assessed the simulated damage to the water and wastewater treatment plant and buildings on the premises, including a diesel tank.
