Troops from the New York Guard’s (State Defense Force) 3rd Detachment recently spent their April drill developing their Chainsaw skills. Instructors went over the operation, safety and cleaning of the tool. The troops then spent time out in the field going over how to clear debris that obstruct roads.
The New York Guard along with many other State Defense Forces ensure their troops are trained and ready to be deployed with road clearing equipment, such as chainsaws, to ensure following a natural disaster or extreme weather roads are cleared and electrical lines can be rebuilt.
