College Graduate Gets Sworn Into Texas State Guard As An Officer

Madison West recently graduated from Texas A&M and as part of her graduation she was sworn into the Texas State Guard as an Officer. She has been officially commissioned as 2nd Lt. Madison West. She will be serving with the Texas State Guard 1st Brigade as she pursues a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

In a private ceremony, 2nd Lt. Madison West, a Texas A&M graduate, was sworn in and officially appointed into the Texas State Guard (TXSG) by the 1st Brigade Recruiting Chief, 2nd Lt. Shane Chapman and Master Recruiter, Staff Sgt. Angela Scarborough, at the Sam Houston Sanders Corps Center. Wearing the 1BDE TXSG sash for graduation, 2nd Lt. West graduated in three years with a Bachelor’s in Geography and was part of the Corp of Cadets. West will be moving to the DFW metroplex, attending Sam Houston University part-time pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration and serving with the 1st Brigade. (Photos by SSgt.
