Puerto Rico State Guard Prepares for Hurricane Season with Training Exercise

The Puerto Rico State Guard (State Defense Force) recently held a training exercise to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. The State Guard conducted an Incident Command System training exercise, based on the FEMA ICS 300 Course, at Muniz Air Base. Those not certified in the course were trained and certified during the event by instructors authorized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG)

As part of the preparation for the 2022 hurricane season, on May 20 and 21 of this year, the Puerto Rico National Guard State Command conducted an Incident Command System training exercise (ICS) ICS-300 at the facilities of the Muñiz Air Base of the Air National Guard in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The Chief of Staff, State Command Sergeant Major, the Brigade and Air Group Commanders, Battalion Commanders and the Staff of the Personnel and Operations sections were trained. This course was offered by Antonio Rosa, Pablo Rosa and Dr. Jessica Cabrera, all certified instructors in the train the trainer from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG).
