The California State Guard (State Defense Force) recently assisted the 40th Infantry Division of the California Army National Guard in their multi-nation Urban Operations Planner Course. This exercise involves military personnel from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, and Germany. The course covers how best to implement large-scale combat operations in dense urban terrain. The 40th Infantry Division was the first Division in the US Army to formally introduce such a course into the US Army’s combat operations. It’s specifically designed to improve staff planners’ ability to analyze and plan in large-scale combat operations in urban environments that covers cities with populations from fifty thousand to ten million.
California State Guard personnel assisted with the presentation of the material to classroom participants.
