New York Guard 56th Area Command Ensures It Meets Readiness Standard

The 56th Area Command of the New York Guard (State Defense Force) recently spent their July training weekend ensuring that each and every soldier in the unit can meet or exceed The NY Guard Readiness Test. The exercise makes sure each soldier has the equipment and supplies necessary to quickly deploy when activated by the Governor and The Adjutant General (TAG – Senior National Guard General). This consists of hydration, extra uniforms, as well as other supplies that would be needed to be self-sufficient for days. The unit then spent the rest of the weekend covering Drill & Ceremony (D&C).

Each soldier in every unit in the New York Guard is required pass the Guard Readiness Test so they can deploy at a moments notice.
