New York Guard Begins Week-Long Annual Training With Guard Readiness Test

At the beginning of the week, the New York Guard (State Defense Force) began their  Annual Training. They began their week long training with a Guard Readiness Test, which is a exercise that ensures each soldier has the equipment and supplies necessary to quickly deploy when activated for State Active Duty. Afterwards the Commanding General of the New York Guard, Brigadier General Peter Riley, spoke with the troops about the upcoming week and other topics.

New York Guard services members participate in an early morning Guard Readiness Test, held at Camp Smith Training Site, Cortland Manor, NY on Aug 15th, 2022, during the first day of annual training for the New York Guard.
Afterwards they attended the Commander’s Briefing and welcome remarks given by Brigadier General Peter Riley, Commander of the New York Guard.
