The Ohio Military Reserve recently held a retirement ceremony for Command Sergeant Major Charles Ruby. CSM Ruby spent his entire career in service to his State and Country, first serving in the United States Army, then joining the Ohio Military Reserve in 2011. During his career in the US Army he served in combat and was wounded in the line of service.
Brigadier General Pinkerton, commander of the Ohio Military Reserve, was on hand to present Command Sergeant Major Ruby The Ohio Distinguished Service Medal. BG Pinkerton and CSM Ruby both served in the same unit in the US Army during their combat tours, The 4th ‘Ivy’ Infantry Division.
30 SEP 22 marks the last day in uniform for CSM Charles Ruby, an extraordinary Soldier who has served his country, the state, the Army, the OHMR faithfully through decades of service. A combat veteran of the US Army who was wounded in the line of duty, CSM Ruby caps an illustrious career of service. CSM Ruby was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by BG Pinkerton recently in recognition of his service. He is a brave, dedicated, and quintessential Soldier.
