The Georgia State Defense Force’s 4th Brigade recently spent their weekend drill on stand by ready to respond to Hurricane Ian as it wrecked havoc past Florida into South Carolina. While the troops were on stand by they spent their two days in the field, setting up field tents, eating in the field, and going over hurricane response operations. As the hurricane caused little to no damage to Georgia the troops were eventually not needed to be activated but they ensured the time didnt go to waste.
Over the weekend 4th Brigade held its October drill in Ashburn Georgia. The main focus was to be ready if called up in support of operations pertaining to Hurricane Ian. Although activation orders never came, the 4th Brigade Georgia State Defense Force went into training mode.
