In their recent training drill South Carolina State Guard (State Defense Force) troops spent their weekend re-certifying on emergency first aid and CPR. This is an important aspect every State Defense Force soldier is required to know as well as be up to date on their certifications. As many State Defense Force missions involve interaction with the citizens of the State, such as Point Of Distribution (POD – Distribution of Critical Food, Water & Medical Supplies), Search & Rescue, Shelter Management, etc. it is necessary to ensure each and every soldier can properly respond to medical emergencies.
Members of the 3rd Battalion spent the weekend with classroom instruction as well as in the field certification. So now if called to duty these troops can render first aid while on mission.
