Georgia State Defense Force Participates in Shop With A Cop Program

The Georgia State Defense Force recently worked with The Villa Rica Police Department in their Shop With A Cop program. The Shop With A Cop program is a community outreach tradition in which children in need are invited from the local community to be teamed up with Police Officers, Soldiers and Sailors to have a shopping event in their local retailer.

This year the Villa Rica Police Department teamed up with Carroll County Emergency 911 Operators, The Georgia State Defense Force,  and United States Navy. These officers, soldiers and sailors were then partnered with children and their families and went on a shopping spree in their local Walmart.

These type of events help build relationships between emergency responders and local communities. They also ensure children in need have a smile this Holiday Season.

Soldiers from the Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF) 76th Support Brigade join the Villa Rica Police Department during the annual Shop with a Cop, Villa Rica, Ga., December 16, 2022.

Personnel from the Carroll County Emergency 911 and the U.S. Navy joined the event, which helped more than 90 children from Villa Rica have a happier holiday.

The GSDF is a component of the Georgia Department of Defense, along with the Georgia Air National Guard and Georgia Army National Guard.

We wanted to share some photos of today’s Shop with a Cop. We enjoyed spending time with the children and hope this event brought joy to their lives during the Christmas season. We also want to thank those that helped make this event a success. Ga.
