Last Year The 106th Rescue Wing of The New York Air National Guard hosted a major hurricane exercise known as Hurricane Madison. The exercise simulated multiple different storms from Super Storm Sandy, Tropical Storm Ida and Hurricane Gloria. It then tracked and adapted emergency response to each storm. The exercise was commanded by Captain Douglas Duncan and was composed of approximately 50 personnel from The Air National Guard, New York Guard, Naval Militia (US Navy & Marine Corps Reserve Personnel), and Department of Homeland Security Emergency Services.
