New Soldiers Take Oath To Begin Their Military Career in The Texas State Guard

The Commander of The 1st Brigade of The Texas State Guard (State Defense Force), Brigadier General John Diggs, recently sworn in a new class of recruits. These Texans are now off to begin their journey from Civilian To Soldier. Their next destination will be Initial Entry Training (Basic Training), where theĀ soldiers will learn Basic Soldiering Skills. The training is designed to reflect the basic training conditions of the United States Military. The Soldiers will learn the core fundamentals of how the military operates from Chain of Command, Physical Training to Drill & Ceremony, so when they are activated and work side by side with National Guard soldiers they can operate as any other soldier in the unit.

The Texas State Guard has the largest State Defense Force in the country with over 1,800 soldiers in their ranks. And out of that number 400 are on continuous Active Duty.

Congratulations to the new Texas State Guard guardsmen sworn in by Brig. Gen. John Diggs, Commander, 1st Brigade at the National Guard Armory, Dallas, Texas, Jan. 28, 2023. Learn new skills and apply your skills by joining the premier state defense force in the country. (Photos by Cpl.
