Georgia Legislators Applaud Soldiers’ Accomplishments in Basic Leader Course Graduation

Nearly Two Dozen Soldiers of The Georgia State Defense Force recently completed The Defense Force’s Basic Leader Course. This unique course provides the skills and training soldiers need to become Non-Commissioned Officers in The Georgia State Defense Force. During the graduation ceremony two special guests joined The Commanding General of The Defense Force, Brigadier General Mark D. Gelhardt Sr., to congratulate the soldiers on their accomplishment.

Georgia House of Representatives Member, Karen Mathiak, and Georgia State Senator, Rick William  both attended the momentous graduation ceremony honoring the soldiers who successfully completed The Basic Leaders Course (BLC). With immense pride and admiration, the lawmakers recognized the dedication, perseverance, and leadership skills exhibited by the graduates. They commended the soldiers for their commitment to self-improvement and their unwavering service to The State of Georgia. Mathiak and William acknowledged the significance of BLC in shaping the future leaders of the military and expressed their gratitude to the soldiers for their invaluable contributions to national defense.

The Basic Leaders Course (BLC) is an essential training program in the military designed to develop and refine the leadership skills of junior non-commissioned officers (NCOs). BLC serves as a critical stepping stone in a soldier’s career, bridging the gap between individual tasks and responsibilities and those of a leader. The course focuses on instilling core competencies such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork. Participants learn to lead and motivate small teams, understand the principles of tactics and operations, and develop proficiency in a wide range of military skills. BLC provides a foundation for NCOs to excel in their roles and prepares them for future leadership positions in the military.
