A Peak At Texas State Guard Search & Rescue Training

The Texas State Guard recently published a video detailing the challenges, obstacles and training soldiers encounter during Search & Rescue training. Soldiers undergo a rigorous and comprehensive program that prepares them for response operations. The training covers emergency management, incident command systems, land navigation and the role SAR teams play in disaster response.

Throughout the training, soldiers receive specialized instruction in navigation techniques, land search operations, and technical rescue skills. They learn how to effectively use GPS devices and other navigation tools, conduct grid searches, and employ various search patterns to locate missing persons. Soldiers also acquire vital medical knowledge, including first aid and CPR procedures, enabling them to provide immediate assistance to individuals in need. Practical exercises and simulations are incorporated into the training to provide soldiers with hands-on experience and foster problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills. By the end of the program, soldiers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to emergencies, contributing to the safety and well-being of their communities.

The Texas State Guard has just concluded accepting applications for a new class that will shortly begin their training.
