From Private to Lieutenant, A State Guard Soldiers Journey

The Texas State Guard just commissioned a new Lieutenant into their ranks, but this one Officer has a unique story. Enlisting as a Private in The Texas State Guard in the spring of 2021, he pulled double duty both as a State Guard soldier and Cadet Corporal in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

Congrats to 2nd Lieutenant Kyle Rayburn for his achievement and dedication to the safety and security of this nation.

Lt. Col. Randy Frazier, Commander, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, Texas State Guard, commissions Kyle Rayburn as second lieutenant upon his graduation from Texas A&M, College Station, Texas, May 11, 2023.
Rayburn began his career in the Texas State Guard as an enlisted Private in the Spring of 2021 while he was a Sophomore and Cadet Corporal in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He was very involved during his 4 years at A&M having served in numerous leadership roles, including Recruiting and Public Relations officer and Infantry Band Drum Major of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. Rayburn received his degree in University Studies: Society, Ethics, and Law and intends on applying to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s State Trooper Recruit School, with the hopes of starting a career in Law Enforcement. He is the new executive officer for Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion. Congratulations! Well done!
