The Georgia State Defense Force’s 4th Brigade has undertaken an intensive training day focusing on landing operations and Medevac loading procedures. This exercise is part of their ongoing commitment to improving their emergency response during natural disasters. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Medevac Lifeteam crew from Turner County, who brought in their helicopters, expertise and knowledge to instruct the soldiers about their mission, the operation of their equipment, procedural guidelines, and emergency trauma response and transportation.
Central to the role of the Georgia State Defense Force, they are activated during times of natural disasters and are tasked with critical Search & Rescue missions. These missions are often life-saving, involving the search for injured Georgians in perilous conditions. The training with the Medevac Lifeteam crew bolsters the brigade’s capabilities in handling and loading casualties onto helicopters, both civilian and Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopters, optimizing the response times in situations of utmost urgency.
Once casualties have been found and loaded onto the helicopters, the Georgia State Defense Force also takes the lead in extracting these individuals once the aircraft have landed. These rescued individuals are then rapidly transported to hospitals for further medical attention. The comprehensive training day facilitated by the Medevac Lifeteam crew thus enhances the Defense Force’s ability to execute these critical tasks proficiently, increasing the chances of survival and recovery for the citizens of Georgia during natural disasters.
