Poll – How important do you feel it is for State Defense Forces to maintain units with historical legacies rooted in American history?

Many State Defense Force units trace their lineage back to historic military units, carrying forward traditions and legacies that have roots in key moments of American history. For example, The First Company Foot Guard of The Governors Guards (Connecticut State Defense Force) are one of the most notable State Defense Forces that can trace its lineage all the way back to The American Revolution.
Other units like The 9th Regiment of The New York Guard (State Defense Force) is another notable unit that can trace its roots to back to early American history. During World War I, when many National Guard units were federalized, the 9th Regiment was reconstituted under the New York Guard to provide home defense. Other states, like California, Maryland, and Texas, also boast SDF units that can trace their origins to historical formations, some of which played significant roles in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and other major conflicts. This historical connection serves not only as a link to the past but also as a reminder of the continuous commitment these units have shown in serving their states and the nation.
