Delta Airlines Salutes Heroes: 12th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day Soars with Honor and Aircrafts

Delta Airlines marked its 12th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day with an air of patriotism and gratitude at the heart of Georgia, where the airline’s headquarters nestles among the proud symbols of American freedom. This year’s commemoration echoed the skies with more than the roar of aircraft engines; it resonated with heartfelt speeches by distinguished guests The Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard, Major General Konata Crumbly, and State Command Chief, Chief Master Sergeant Lynda Washington. Both addressed a sea of veterans with a blend of reverence and camaraderie, acknowledging the sacrifices that carve the contours of American history. Beyond their orations, they also engaged in meaningful dialogues with members of The Georgia State Defense Force, embodying a mutual respect that bridges active service and veteran experiences. Georgia State Defense Force soldiers also had a booth at the event educating visitors and veterans about the missions they perform for The State of Georgia

The airfield transformed into a dynamic museum for the day, exhibiting military prowess through an awe-inspiring fleet. The static display of included the majestic C-130 Hercules, a workhorse of the skies known for its critical logistic role across decades and conflicts. Alongside it stood the transformative V-22 Osprey, an aircraft that symbolizes the evolution of military technology with its tiltrotor capabilities. The sharp contours of a few F-16 Fighting Falcons promised speed and agility, while the formidable presence of a Chinook helicopter spoke volumes of its dual role in both combat and humanitarian assistance. These machines, each with stories etched into their frames, provided a backdrop for a day of remembrance and appreciation, enabling veterans and civilians alike to witness the tangible embodiments of service and dedication.

In anticipation of this year’s Veterans Day, Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard, Major General Konata Crumbly and State Command Chief, Chief Master Sergeant Lynda Washington, delivered special remarks to veterans and service members during Delta Airlines 12th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day.
The event showcased an impressive array of military aircraft such as, the majestic C-130, the iconic V-22 Osprey, a few F-16s, and a Chinook helicopter.
The Georgia National Guard’s active participation further strengthens the strong bond between our community and those who serve.
