A striking digital billboard has been installed in north metro Atlanta, prominently featuring GSDF soldiers in an effort to inspire new recruits. This billboard is particularly noteworthy for showcasing members of the GSDF honor guard, including Command Sgt. Maj. James Dempsey, Sgt. 1st Class Vicki Anderson, and Staff Sgt. Manuel Menendez. The presence of these distinguished soldiers on the billboard not only highlights the honor and commitment involved in serving in the GSDF but also serves as a powerful visual invitation to join the ranks of this respected state defense organization.
Alongside their recruitment efforts, the GSDF recently celebrated a significant milestone in their training program. A new class of soldiers has successfully graduated from the Initial Entry Training (IET) program, a rigorous and comprehensive course designed for recruits without prior U.S. Military service. This program is an essential component of military preparation, encompassing a wide range of skills and knowledge areas. Recruits are trained in discipline and regulations, physical fitness, drill and ceremony, and military customs and courtesies. Additionally, the curriculum covers practical skills such as map reading, land navigation, basic first aid, and proper handling of military equipment. Notably, the training emphasizes the importance of understanding the chain of command, military law, and the core values of the armed forces.
