The Texas State Guard has been diligently working across Texas as part of the annual Operation Border Health Preparedness, a crucial initiative that has been serving the community for decades. This operation offers comprehensive and free medical, dental, and vision care to Texas residents, ensuring vital health services are accessible to all. Each year, the Texas State Guard deploys hundreds of its soldiers, who are equipped with a wide range of medical expertise. These soldiers and officers include nurses, doctors, medics, EMTs, optometrists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals who bring their civilian skills to serve the community. The Texas State Guard also partners with numerous State, Local and many non government organizations (NGOs) to ensure every facet health need is covered during this operation
Operation Border Health Preparedness started on Monday and continues through tomorrow, July 26th. This year’s operation is based out of five locations: Cameron County, the City of Laredo, Hidalgo County, Starr County, and Willacy County. The array of services offered at these locations is extensive, including behavioral health, blood pressure screenings, car seat education and appointments, community resources, dental services, diabetes screenings, a food pantry, general medical exams, haircuts, hearing screenings, immunizations, liver function tests, mental health services, nutrition education, pharmacy education, prescription glasses, social services, sports physicals, STD testing, telehealth, tobacco cessation education, veterinary services, and vision screenings. This comprehensive approach ensures that residents have access to essential health services, promoting overall well-being and community health.
