The Georgia State Defense Force: A Crucial Asset in Disaster Relief Operations

As Georgia State Defense Force troops are currently deployed across the state on debris clearing missions alongside The National Guard in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we feel it is important to share this new Commanders Briefing clip. In this interview with Brigadier General Dennis Watts, The Commanding General of The Georgia State Defense Force, we discuss the critical role these debris clearing missions play, particularly in rural areas. General Watts highlights how quickly teams can be deployed, often within 12 hours, and notes that these missions come at no cost since Georgia State Defense Force troops are unpaid volunteers.
