Major Investigation Update: National Guard Bureau & Maryland Military Department Records Nearing Release

We are pleased to announce that the State Guard & Defense Force Council’s Office of Government & Legislative Affairs has received encouraging updates regarding our two ongoing investigations into the National Guard Bureau and Maryland Military Department, particularly concerning the controversial uniform policies affecting State Guards and State Defense Forces.

After months of pursuing government records and demanding greater transparency, both agencies have informed us that our records requests are nearing completion and that the requested documents should be available soon within the next 30 days.

National Guard Bureau – Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

Our investigation into CNGBI 5500.01A, National Guard Interaction with State Defense Forces, continues to move forward.

The National Guard Bureau has informed us that the requested records should be available soon. We are also expecting to receive a financial estimate associated with processing and releasing these documents.

These records should provide important insight into the development of the controversial uniform policy, including the reasoning, discussions, and decisions behind its recommendations affecting State Defense Force military uniforms.

Maryland Military Department – Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA)

We have also received an encouraging update from the Maryland Military Department regarding our investigation into the Maryland Defense Force’s uniform policy changes.

According to the Department, the requested records are expected to be available in approximately three weeks.

We were informed that the Department currently has only one attorney available to review the requested materials. This attorney must examine the records to ensure that confidential information and any classified material, including information designated Confidential, Secret, or Top Secret, are not improperly disclosed.

We appreciate the Department’s communication and recognize the importance of ensuring that sensitive information is appropriately protected while fulfilling its public records obligations.

We are also expecting a financial estimate for this request soon.

What Happens Next?

Once we receive the requested records, our Office of Government & Legislative Affairs will begin reviewing the documentation to determine what led to these controversial decisions and whether the records reveal additional information that warrants further investigation.

We intend to make the released records immediately available to our Patreon supporters and will provide updates on our findings. Because without your support this wouldnt of been possible. Thank you.

These investigations have required considerable time, effort, and organizational resources. Depending on the financial estimates we receive, additional funding may be necessary to obtain and review the records.

Thank You for Making These Investigations Possible

We want to express our sincere appreciation to every Patreon member and donor who has supported these efforts.

Our mission remains unchanged: to protect the military identity, operational capabilities, heritage, and future of America’s State Guards and State Defense Forces while demanding transparency and accountability from the government institutions whose decisions affect them.

We believe these records could represent an important step forward in that mission.
