In this new Commanders Briefing podcast clip, we sit down with Major General Leon Lott, Commanding General of The South Carolina State Guard, to discuss the revised National Guard Directive CNGBI 5500.01. This directive encourages states to adopt distinct uniform changes for their State Defense Forces, moving away from the standard camouflage nametapes used by the U.S. Army and National Guard. The proposed changes include red nametapes with white lettering, a red rank insignia with white rank, a red ball cap instead of the standard camouflage cover, and a red shoulder patch featuring “SDF” in white. Major General Lott shares insights on whether The South Carolina State Guard will implement this new uniform and the potential implications for the force.
