Major Shepard recently retired from her position as one of the top Public Affairs Officers in the State Defense Forces. Known for her dedication, professionalism, and deep understanding of State Defense Force operations, Major Shepard has long been an invaluable contributor to the SDF community. Her retirement marks the close of a distinguished chapter in service—but now opens a new one with Scuttlebutt.
We at StateDefenseForce.com have had the honor of working closely with Major Shepard during her tenure with the Georgia State Defense Force. Her remarkable ability to communicate clearly and with purpose, her passion for military service, and her strategic insight into public affairs made her the perfect candidate to join us as a permanent host and interviewer on the podcast. Her skill, knowledge, and experience have astonished us on many occasions, and we’re thrilled to welcome her into the StateDefenseForce.com family.

Promotion & Retirement Announcement
The Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF) Public Affairs Office (PAO) proudly announces the promotion and retirement of Major Beverly Shepard, former Chief of the GSDF PAO.
Shepard graduated from the Captains and Warrants Career Course in June 2025 and was promoted to the rank of Major shortly thereafter. Following her promotion, she retired after 10 years of dedicated service to the GSDF.
A distinguished journalist and exceptional leader, Major Shepard rose swiftly through the ranks to lead the Public Affairs Office. During her tenure, she spearheaded an impactful marketing and advertising campaign that elevated the GSDF’s visibility, and she played a key role in significantly growing the organization’s social media following.
Her legacy will continue to inspire current and future members of the force. We salute Major Shepard for her outstanding contributions and wish her the very best in her next chapter.
