We are pleased to announce the launch of the official State Guard & Defense Force Council website at sgdfc.org. The State Guard & Defense Force Council is the parent nonprofit organization that operates StateDefenseForce.com and oversees our advocacy, research, historical preservation, and support initiatives nationwide. This new site serves as the parent website for our organization and will act as the central nexus for official announcements, organizational updates, media and community inquiries. As our work continues to expand nationwide, this platform will allow us to communicate more clearly, operate more broadly, and better serve the State Defense Force community as a whole.
As we look ahead, we are preparing to launch a fundraising campaign at the end of this month to support our 2026–2027 operating year. Before formally launching that effort, we want to be transparent with our community about why this fundraiser is necessary, what it will support, and how it aligns with our long term mission. Your feedback, questions, and engagement during this preparation phase are important to us.
A portion of the funding raised will be directed toward expanding our legislative advocacy initiatives nationwide. This includes hiring dedicated staff whose role will be to communicate with state lawmakers, legislative committees, and Federal legislators. In states where State Defense Forces do not currently exist, our efforts will focus on educating policymakers about the value of establishing a State Defense Force, highlighting the critical and lifesaving missions these forces perform, the significant cost savings to the state when missions are conducted by trained volunteers rather than private contractors, and the essential role State Defense Forces play in emergency response, homeland resilience, and public safety. In states where State Defense Forces are already established, our advocacy will center on improving their development by advocating access for better benefits and recognition, and State Active Duty pay for members who serve during emergencies.
But the primary focus of this upcoming fundraiser, however, is the launch of our Quartermaster Corps program. This initiative is designed to address one of the most persistent challenges facing State Defense Forces: unequal access to equipment, uniforms, and logistical support. Many State Defense Forces operate with limited or inconsistent funding, leaving many members to self-fund basic requirements or operate with outdated or insufficient gear.
The Quartermaster Corps program will allow us to directly support State Defense Forces by assisting with the purchase of uniforms for low-income members, helping units obtain essential equipment, and providing logistical support for training and emergency missions when state funding is limited or unavailable. This includes practical, mission-critical support such as providing meals for troops during weekend drills when units lack the budget, ensuring that service members can focus on training rather than basic necessities.
In addition, the Quartermaster Corps will assist State Defense Force members facing financial hardship by helping offset transportation costs associated with service. This may include providing funds to access public transit systems, assistance with fuel expenses for those traveling long distances to drills or activations, or other forms of support designed to reduce the personal financial strain. By addressing these challenges, the program helps retain qualified personnel and ensures that financial limitations do not prevent capable volunteers from serving their state.
Over time, the Quartermaster Corps will help ensure that readiness, training quality, and mission capability are not dictated by geography or uneven local funding, but by shared standards and a commitment to supporting those who step forward to serve.
This fundraiser is not simply about sustaining our organization; it is about strengthening State Defense Forces nationwide. With adequate funding, we can advocate more effectively, respond faster, support SDF members nationwide, and help states build or improve the forces that serve their communities during emergencies. As we move closer to the launch of this campaign, we hope you will consider supporting this effort and standing with us as we work to grow and protect our State Defense Forces across the country.
All donations made as part of this upcoming fundraiser will be tax deductible. The State Guard & Defense Force Council (Also Known as StateDefenseForce.com) is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization, and contributions directly support our mission to strengthen, support, and expand State Defense Forces nationwide.
We would also like to sincerely thank the supporters who have helped keep StateDefenseForce.com operating over the years through our Patreon program. Your continued contributions have made it possible for us to publish news, conduct interviews, preserve history, and advocate for State Defense Forces nationwide. Everything we have built to date has been made possible by your commitment and belief in this mission.
