Alaska SDF Provide Troops to Assist Alaskans Following Wildfires

The Alaska State Defense Force activated several troops to assist State Agencies & The Red Cross in caring for Alaskans who were affected by the wildfires rampaging through South-West Alaska. The troops assisted with food & supply deliveries as well as caring for the evacuees at the Armory.

The Alaska State Defense Force is mobilizing several Soldiers via State Active Duty, to assist the St. Mary’s evacuees in the Bethel armory. We will provide additional updates as this civil support mission materializes. A big Thank you to all the Soldiers who volunteered for this mission!

The Army National Guard Special Forces Group, 5/19th Special Warfare Training Detachment Airborne, who work closely with the Alaska State Defense Force regularly throughout the year responded to the news:
