The 2nd Brigade of the Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) recently sworn in new recruits into the unit. The troops will now head to the Reception & Training Unit to receive basic military training, as well as specialized mission operation training, before being sent back to their home units.
Brig. Gen. Marco Coppola, Commander, 2nd Brigade, Texas State Guard, swears in new members into the Texas State Guard at a recent ceremony in Houston, Texas. Members are trained by the Reception and Training Unit which specializes in preparing them for deployment in times of natural disasters and other emergencies for various missions, including operating the Emergency Tracking Network, distributing water and other supplies or operating shelters or other missions as needed.
