Army National Guard Green Berets & Alaska SDF Work Together To Setup Communication Stations in Remote Parts of Alaska

Over the last few months the Colorado Army National Guard’s 5/19th Special Warfare Training Detachment Airborne (Green Berets) has been working with the Alaska State Defense Force the past couple of months in a multitude of missions. From extreme cold weather training to conducting aerial survey missions, both organizations have worked together to ensure mission success. Another mission the Green Berets and Alaska State Defense Force have been working on is ensuring a communication link is setup between the West Coast of the United States all the way to communities in remote areas of rural Alaska.

5/19th SFG(A) Green Berets & communications specialists (25B) traveled to remote parts of Alaska to conduct HF communications training. These communications experts along with Alaska State Defense Force Scouts established base stations in Bethel and Kwethluk Alaska that are capable of voice and text communications back to the Mat su Valley (Wassilla & Anchorage) over 400+ miles away. This project is planned to continue along the Western coast of Alaska to link rural communities. These on going efforts support Arctic Interest Council goals set forth by the Alaska National Guard, Colorado National Guard, and other supporting states.
