The California State Guard (State Defense Force) recently was provided five new Fire Engines by the California Office of Emergency Services to assist in fighting Wildfires. Each new Fire Engine can carry a four member team that can rapidly deploy with the National Guard and CALFIRE to respond to State Emergencies. The California State Guard Emergency Response Command (ERC), which is the unit devoted to fighting wildfires, took possession of the Fire Engines at Mather Airfield in Sacramento.
The California State Guard is part of a Wildfire Response Task Force that is composed of the Army National Guard, CALFIRE, and the State Guard. They have multiple teams parts such as Team Blaze, which deploys to the field to fight wildfires. Other teams provide security and command & control operations. The California State Guard has been fighting wildfires for years side by side their National Guard & CALFIRE brothers and sisters.
