The Texas State Guard (State Defense Force) was recently invited to hold a recruiting event at the renown Texas A&M Univserity by its Corps of Cadets. The 2nd Brigade of the Texas State Guard setup a recruiting station in one of the main halls with information pamphlets and merchandise. Troops spoke with many of the Cadets & students about the opportunities and duties of the Texas State Guard. They also discussed the financial benefits the Texas State Guard offers college students.

Carl Ivey, Bravo Company commander, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, Texas State Guard, remarked, “As a Texas A&M Corps of Cadets graduate, it was great to see the troops interact with hundreds of their peers and fellow classmates and discuss how their service in the Texas State Guard correlates to and reflects the responsibilities and traditions of military service in the Corps of Cadets.”Pvt. Kyle Rayburn, wearing the Corps of Cadets uniform in the center of the photo, is their Infantry Band Drum Major while currently serving with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade. Recent Texas A&M graduate Pfc. Mary Beth Grundman and current student Pfc. Ashley Gibson were joined by Cpl. Nicholas Martin as they volunteered their time to share their journey, service, recent deployments during time of natural disasters and other emergencies, as well as the financial/service benefits available to college students.
