Today we are releasing ‘How the State Defense Forces are interacting with The National Guard’ Panel. The committee was headed by an all star panel, The Director of Joint Staff of The New York State Military Forces, Two State Defense Force Commanding Generals and The Chief of Staff of The New York Guard (State Defense Force). Here are the individuals who participated:

  • Brigadier General Isabel Smith (United States Army), Director Join Staff, Division of Military & Naval Affairs
  • Brigadier General Mark D. Gelhardt Sr. (Georgia State Defense Force), Commanding General, Georgia State Defense Force)
  • Brigadier General Gregory Juday (Maryland Defense Force), Commanding General, Maryland Defense Force
  • Colonel David Albanese (New York Guard), Chief of Staff, New York Guard 

This incredibly informative panel discussed how their State Defense Forces responded to the Covid-19 Pandemic as well as other recent missions such as Asylum Relief Support. The Panel dove into the capabilities their State Defense Forces provides to their National Guard and State, as well as how they manage deployment, logistics and activation during Statewide Emergencies.
