The 88th Area Command of The New York Guard (State Defense Force) spent their January monthly drill focusing on Logistical Operations at The Nassau County Office of Emergency Management warehouse. The troops spent their weekend training on wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), identifying potential hazards within the warehouse so as to avoid any possibilities of injuries. Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Instructors taught the troops on forklift operations, proper safety procedures and certified them on becoming forklift operators.
Warehouse Operations is a vital mission within The New York Guard as they have been repeatedly called upon by The National Guard to manage supply & logistical operations during statewide emergencies.
Bethpage, New York – The 88th Area Command of the New York Guard held a MUTA focused on Warehouse Operations at the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management warehouse on Saturday, November 12th, 2022.Following 1st Formation at 0800hrs, CW3 Arthur Brown convened a safety brief which covered all aspects of safety required for operating in a warehouse environment including; Personal Protective Equipment, Forklift Safety, and theIdentification of Potential Safety Hazards.Following the safety brief, the troops retired to the warehouse where two senior Nassau OEM instructors presented a lecture and demonstration of proper forklift operation. At the conclusion of the lecture/demonstration, the instructors held a question and answer period during which many queries were addressed, rounding out a very successful MUTA.
